Tim Walker's "Storyteller" Exhibition at Somerset House

Tim Walker is a photographer and artist, who creates a dreamscapes beyond imagination. His works for VOGUE celebrate 'the fantastical' in fashion. Upon the release of his recent book ‘Storyteller’, British brand Mulberry supported the opening of a likewise named exhibition at Somerset House by the banks of the Thames in London, an exhibition we recently had pleasure to visit. Once inside, one can admire the intricate oversized props from photoshoots amongst the vast amount of archived works, as well as quotes from Walker himself. Whilst all of his works are truly astonishing, the most striking thing about Walker’s body of work is the way managed to imprint his individual style in collaboration with his subjects, featuring Alexander McQueen, Anna Piaggi, Alber Ebaz and Vivienne Westwood. A truly amazing and visually captivating exhibition worth visiting!

Finishing on January 27th 2013, the exhibition is a must see so if you're in London and still haven't seen it you know now what to do;) (the admission is FREE).

Carmen Dell'Orefice

Carmen Dell’Orefice is an american model and actress, born on June 3, 1931 in New York. She is known for being the world's oldest working model as of the Spring/Summer 2012 season. After appearing on the cover of Vogue at the age of 15, she has been modelling ever since.

A graceful and charismatic woman throughout the decades. We need more senior (role) models like her in the fashion industry, period.

Eugene Atget

Eugene Atget (1857 - 1927) photographed Paris for thirty years. With a singleness of purpose rarely excelled, he made his incredible monument to a city. When he died in 1927 he left approximately 2000 eight by ten inches glass plates and almost 10,000 prints, not counting the plates deposited in the Palais Royale archives. Here is one of the most extraordinary achievements of photography. Yet we know almost nothing of Atget as a person and less of Atget as a photographer. Most of the buildings and places he photographed can still be visited. But what has been lost is the way of life and a culture that bound people tightly to the fabric of a place: the old Paris. While his aesthetic was modern, his concern was for the past, showing a fundamental anxiety about the unstoppable and often destructive progress of modernity. It is this prescient ambivalence towards the future and his paean to the passing of time that makes Atget's Paris so resonant and fresh.
