Noir Venom

Hi! So we decided to play around with our camera lately and try to attempt to broaden our photography skills. The idea was to achieve the 'studio' look we often see in magazines. It's not quite a 'studio' photography, considering I made this in our kitchen using white cloth as a background, although I gotta admit I was surprised how good they came out. Being a graphic designer I played around with the grayscale and typography to achieve the look we aimed for in our initial concept. The idea behind the photos tackles the perception of sinfulness and purity as well as explores the study of elegance in nude photography. Justine posed and styled, I shot and edited. Hope you guys like it!

Also you can hype these on lookbook by clicking on the widget below. Thanks!

Nicola Samori's Paintings

La Storia, 2009

Italian artist, Nicola Samori, depicts the subject of deconstruction of beauty, framed in dark, post-modern grotesque. Her haunting baroque style paintings are situated in a somewhat surreal past tense. The subjects are like echos of their former selves, any distinguishing features are blurred or melting away as if they are torn between two worlds. The feeling of combined daunt and mystery makes them particularly interesting. We would love to see these on the walls of some creepy chateau!

My works are planes of temporal accumulation and push the image towards its dissolution. My attention is focused on the last moments of a work when a form of exhausted, at-the-limit beauty is impressed in it. I like taking the image to a breaking point, putting its form into danger.

We find it comforting to see there are still some interesting painters out there; in times overruled by photography, works like these makes us hope for the better future of paintings in whole, as an art form.

Alidra Alic Jewellery

Alidra's work is based on an interpretation of the cultural and art historical framework of a given period towards a personal concept within contemporary jewellery. With a strong emphasis on sensibility she illustrates her concept using a self-invented plastic technique in combination with precious metals and stones. Little refreshment for those who got bored with conventional jewels.
